Today is my Dad’s birthday! He’s officially 73! He’s in great shape for his age and continues to amaze me. I have learned so much from him and hope to keep learning from him. He’s my best buddy and we always try to make each other laugh, even when we get into some sort of argument. I thank god everyday the he is in my life.

at 73 you put this old 71 year old to shame. I had to leave my remote cabin when I was 70 and could no longer handle the rigors of wilderness living but you are an inspiration and I am now planing on returning next spring to Northern Alaska. Reading your diary has motivated me to exercise and give up my old nemesis cigarettes and hopefully this will be enough to allow me another decade of living in a land touched by the hand of God.

Sorry to be so slow in answering. Life gets in the way of good intentions. I am glad that you have been inspired to do stop smoking. I know from personal experience that to quit smoking is extremely difficult. Before I moved up here I was working out three times a week with my weights. Hope your return to Alaska will be as happy as my first trip to this beautiful awe inspiring place. Best Wishes and Happy Thanksgiving.
